Privacy Collection Notice

The Office of the National Data Commissioner (ONDC) sits within the Department of Finance and supports the National Data Commissioner, who has particular functions under the Data Availability and Transparency Act 2022 (the Act). In this notice, the collective pronouns ‘we’ and ‘us’ refer to the ONDC as part of the Department of Finance, and the National Data Commissioner.

We collect and use your personal information on this form for the purposes of handling your submission. We may also need to collect further information about you in order to handle your submission. We may collect this information from you or someone else if it is required or authorised by law (such as the Act).

If you do not provide us this information, it may affect how we handle your submission. In some circumstances, it could mean we are unable to handle your submission.

We may disclose your personal information to the Minister, other relevant authorities or third parties where authorised or required by law (such as the Act). This may include disclosing your information to a more appropriate authority that can handle your submission, or if required for national security purposes. We will not disclose your information outside Australia, unless authorised or required by law.
