Watch our webinar to find out about the data sharing legislative reform package.
When it comes to sharing data ethically, it is about more than simply ‘doing the right thing’. It is about making sure there is a benefit to the Australian community, that their data is kept safe, and that the process is transparent.
Every day millions of Australians rely on services delivered by the Australian Government. These services are underpinned by the Government’s ability to share and use public sector data.
Public sector data, or government data, is all the information (numbers, statistics, facts, concepts or other information) that is collected, held and used by the Australian Government.
We need to reform Australia’s data sharing system because there are more than 500 outdated secrecy provisions which are no longer in step with today’s digital society, sometimes make sharing impossible, even when it makes good sense to do so.
